Charleroi is one of the birthplaces of the glass industry and it is no surprise to find that Glaverbel stems from this region, which due to the success of its industry was known as « Wallifornia » some 100 years ago. It was at Charleroi that M. Fourcault invented his process for glass drawing and thus the glass industry was born, taking over from the glass blowing.
Uncle Pierre Lixon took the first steps in the progression of the LIXONCompany when developing cutting systems using natural diamonds.
It was Lucien Lixon, who then manufactured the first steel glass cutting wheels, just after the Americans, who introduced cutting methods using a rotating mechanical part and no longer using a diamond scriber.
In 1956, Raymond Lixon first started to manufacture carbide glass cuttting wheels with the famous carbide of tungsten invented by Widia Krupp in Germany.
In 1992, Jean-Pol Lixon with a team of researchers then perfected the diamond glass cutting wheels that had already been developed in Japan.
In 2003, at the sudden death of Mister Jean-Pol Lixon, his two DaughtersVanessa and Cédrine Lixon, took over the company and are now running the business.
